The first 9 stages of Tour de France 2018 went from Snoozeville to Bonkersville, with some hair-raising sprints in between. Midge, Euan and Kathi have a rollicking conversation while picking out some of the highlights (and lowlights) of the first week – and there’s a slight wine-fuelled cobbles rant … “Nobody puts Roubaix in a corner!”
First week of Le Tour and it’s the usual up-down-left-rightchaos. Nerves a-jangling for the GC favourites -take it as read there were incidents and accidents on every stage. Fast muscles a-twitching for the sprinters, and boy did they have a LOT of opportunities. And at the end of it all an appointment with the hallowed pavé at Roubaix for the Tour’s very own Sunday in Hell.
Holy Mary, Mother of God. We knew that the Roubaix stage of this Tour de France was going to be full on, but I don’t know if we expected it to be full-on bonkers! There were guys all over the road – sometimes on bikes, sometimes on their butts; there was the yellow jersey in a final breakaway; and there were tears – both happy and sad but both genuine. The GC was more stirred than shaken up but there were some big losses.
