Giro d’Italia 2022 : Stage 7 – Bouwman takes a beautiful breakaway win

Team Jumbo-Visma put two men into the break of the day, and the disappointment of Mount Etna behind them, to play an absolute blinder on a breathless Stage 7 of the Giro. Koen Bouwman took his maiden Grand Tour victory and the King of the Mountains jersey, but he could not have done so without strong riding from his teammate Tom Dumoulin. Trek-Segafredo’s Mr Tenacity, Bauke Mollema pipped a feisty Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates) for second place on the day. Behind the breakaway, the GC leaders kept the action more-or-less together and Juan Pedro Lopez (Trek-Segafredo) gains another day in pink.

Giro d’Italia 2022 : Stage 2 – Simon Yates shocks with a time trial victory, Van der Poel stays in pink

Colour me pink! Simon PHILIP Yates (BikeExchange-Jayco) only went and took a stormer of a time-trial victory on Stage Two of the Giro. The man from Bury flew along the flat and zoomed up the finishing climb with equal aplomb. A pink-clad Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix) stomped on the pedals and used all his cyclocross skills to navigate the corners with supreme skill to take a close second. Fellow Dutchman, Tom Dumoulin, was quickest of an excellent Jumbo-Visma team to round out the podium.

Tweets of the Week 2021 : Big Tam Moments
