Stage 6: Guijuelo to Caceres, 175km

Saxo Bank’s Michael Morkov sprung a surprise to take the biggest win of his career, though his achievement was overshadowed by the superhuman efforts of Tony ‘Panzerwagen’ Martin (Omega Pharma-Quick Step). After spending the entire stage out front alone, he was caught with barely 50 metres remaining.

Vuelta Stage 6 preview

Stage 6: Guijuelo to Caceres, 175km, flat

At first glance this looks like a straightforward sprinters’ day. However, this is the Vuelta and while the run-in to the finish is hardly a climb, it is sufficiently uphill to favour the strong-men over the pure sprinters. We will probably still see a bunch sprint, but there’s just enough vertical gain to give late attackers a chance too.

Friday Feature: Sheree’s Tour diary

Sheree brings us a pictorial diary from her recent trip to the 100th Tour de France.

The Tour came to me this year, landing in Nice for the team time trial after three stages on the idyllic island of Corsica. However, I was working all day on my friends’ stand selling the G4 Eurosport Centenary Collection to the many tourists in town for the Tour. Luckily one of my friends was happy to share a few of his photographs.
