Giro d’Italia 2021 : Stage 13 – Nizzolo all smiles as GC takes a breather

Giacomo Nizzolo (Qhubeka ASSOS) finally broke his duck at his home grand tour in front of a delighted tifosi and teammates. The European Champion chased down a powerful surprise attack from Edoardo Affini (Jumbo-Visma) before leaping off his wheel to scream across the line with the biggest smile you will see all year. Peter Sagan (BORA-hansgrohe) rounded out the podium. There were no changes in the top ten on GC with Egan Bernal (INEOS-Grenadiers) still in pink and happy for a rest before the mighty Zoncolan tomorrow.  Continue reading

Giro d’Italia 2020: Stage 13 – Ulissi makes it two, Almeida snatches seconds

Diego Ulissi (UAE-Team Emirates) grabbed his second victory of this Giro d’Italia and his eighth in total. A ferocious finale on Stage 13 featuring two sharp climbs saw a GC centric group fight it out for stage winning honours and those all important bonus seconds.  The Italian powered to the line to pip the maglia rosa with BORA-hansgrohe’s Patrick Konrad rounding out the podium. Joao Almeida‘s second place gives him six extra seconds on all his rivals before the time trial tomorrow.

Vuelta a Espana 2016: Stage 3 – Geniez hits the jackpot, Fernandez in red

It was a blistering hot stage with a couple of climbs that would scare the bejesus out of lesser men. The first rider to zigzag his way up a virtual wall to the finish was Alexandre Geniez of FDJ in full unzipped glory. Ruben Fernandez celebrated second as he rode into the red jersey with his Movistar teammate Alejandro Valverde coming in third.
