Rider updates: Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde and Samuel Sanchez

The season has drawn to a close and my three grand tour riders have enjoyed very different fortunes since the Tour de France. Samuel Sanchez and Alejandro Valverde both rode the Vuelta a Espana while Alberto Contador took the unusual (for him) step of riding a number of one-day races. Saxo sweep (well, nearly)

NetApp-Endura’s Leopold Konig may have won today’s stage, but things couldn’t be much better if you’re Saxo-Tinkoff. Not only is Nicolas Roche leading three of the four jersey classifications, but they are now also the team classification leaders. Only Katusha’s Daniel Moreno, the points leader, stands between them and a clean sweep.
