Giro 2017 Stage 21:Double Dutch party as Van Emden and Dumoulin rock Milan

The Giro that has served up a thriller of Grand Tour gave us one more last-gasp, clock-watching, stab of excitement. Only 53secs separated the top four on GC. Fastest man on the day was LottoNL-Jumbo’s Jos Van Emden, who blistered around the 29.3km course in 33:08mins and spent most of the race in the hotseat. The man who ran him closest was fellow countryman Tom Dumoulin, who kept his cool and powered his way from fourth overall right to the top step of the Giro podium. A pink-booted Nairo Quintana held on for 2nd with Vincenzo Nibali delighting home fans with third place.

Giro 2017 Stage 20: Pinot hearts the Giro and tomorrow is just a minute

The final mountain stage in this Giro100 and it was not a disappointment. With Katusha busting the peloton apart on Monte Grappa, by the final climb even the strongest riders looked on their knees. With five of the top six GC putting time into Tom Dumoulin, Thibaut Pinot sprinted for the stage win and valuable bonus seconds to set up a final stage ITT with less than a minute between the top step and 4th. Nairo Quintana will be the last rider out of the start house tomorrow, in the pink skinsuit.

Giro 2017 Stage 19: Third time lucky for Landa and the pink is back in play

What a humdinger of a stage! Trash-talking revenge dished out by Vinceno Nibali and Nairo Quintana in the GC and tearful joy for Mikel Landa who took a well-deserved stage victory after being thwarted twice this week, attacking from the break on the final climb to solo across the line and into the waiting arms of his soigneur. Meanwhile, well back down the road, the GC contenders distanced Tom Dumoulin by just enough for him to lose the maglia rosa to Quintana.
