Rather than look back on the Ardennes, this week I’m going to look forward to the Giro d’Italia, which starts in Naples in just ten days’ time. This year’s edition looks set to be as close and unpredictable as 2012’s. There’s no doubting the class present in the field, and the outcome of the race will depend on a number of key variables.
