The World Championships have been completed, and the 2013 cycling season enters its last knockings as October dawns. The WorldTour is drawing to a close, and one last flurry of races across Europe heralds the start of the off-season. But that’s not to say there isn’t plenty of good racing still to come this month. Here’s a quick look at what’s in store.
September is the last really full month of the season. There is the bulk of the Vuelta a Espana still to enjoy, of course, but besides that we have the Road World Championships and a further three WorldTour events. There will be plenty of riders motivated by a shot at a rainbow jersey, not to mention those yet to secure a contract for 2014, who will be keen to catch the eye in these closing weeks of the season.
The 100th Tour de France has run its course, but August sees the start of the year’s third and final grand tour, the Vuelta a Espana, one of three WorldTour events this month. August also sees two stage winners from the 100th Tour celebrating birthdays. But who? Read on to find out.
