Tour Moments of Joy: Stage 21 – Paris, Chaos, Meeus and Smiles

Have we not been entertained this Tour? Day after day of enthralling, brutal racing – full of  revelations and crazy chaos. It was no surprise that we saw the same on the Champs Elysee where  Jordi Meeus BORA – hansgrohe astounded everyone.  Here’s the last moments of joy from Stage 21 of the Tour de France.

Paris

I freely admit I love the opening part of the stage into Paris. The photo opportunities, the celebration and the smiles.

Making dreams come true

Mattias Skjelmose and Mads Pedersen leading King of the Mountain Giulio Ciccone to gain the final mountains points – just as they did yesterday.

Adam Blythe on a bike on his element.

Chaos

Once we reached the streets of Paris there was nothing usual about the racing. Where we would usually see a bit of a lame break marking time until the sprint teams took over. This time, pure chaos. The instigator?

Of course it was Tadej Pogacar!  Attacking not once but twice and putting the sprint teams in the hurt locker.

Not content with that, he came back to lead the sprint out, just not sure for who ;p

Meeus

With 4 wins already it seemed a shoe in for maillot vert winner Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck). His team played it cool when everyone else was reeling in attack after attack. However, with four riders gunning for the line, it was grand tour debutant Jordi Meeus who timed it to perfection. What a day to pull the goods out.

THis could only be better if Giulio had spotted bar tape
