Tour Moments of Joy: Stage 8 – Pure Pedersen Power

Want to hear my commentary from the end of Stage 8 of the Tour de France?

MADS MADS MADS – NOOO – OMG – KEEP HIM BEHIND – YES – MADS MADS MADS – HELL YES!!!! ( I’m available Eurosport)

OF COURSE this Danish Dynamite is my Moment of Joy.

Mads Pedersen put his Lidl-Trek team to work on Stage 8 of the Tour de France 2023, and boy did they all deliver a performance of sheer power from start to finish. Pulling to keep the break in check, on the front when the chaos started in the last 20K, controlling the run to the finish. Mads needed a hard race and that’s exactly what he got.

I tell you the lead out from Mathias Skjelmose to Alex Kirsch to Jasper Stuyven was just about perfect. It’s easy to say all Mads had to do was finish it off. However, that finish with the double incline was BRUTAL and Mads went from such a long way out, as is his style.

Look at how much power he lays down

In close up, and with an excellent explanation of  how Mads was able to keep Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin -Deceuninck)behind him today. Also, I love to hear victory called on ‘home’ TV.

I’d like to say I held my breath, but I was too busy yelling. There was a scintilla of doubt when Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin -Deceuninck) launched, but then I remembered how Mads operates on these finishes and I knew he was powering to victory – even if his legs were screaming STOPPPPPP!

Man it was such a long sprint, I was very close to sitting down in the last 50m

Happy Leeeedl-Trekkies

Wait, do Lidl-Trek have special 1st podium hats. Although I do have to sigh for #CapsNotHats

He’s such a genuinely nice guy. Affable, straight talking, always a smile or a word for the fans and media. Skills with the hoops as well.

Puy de Dome tomorrow, will it be another win for Danes? Kom så!
