Tour Moments of Joy: Stage 6 – Le Tour is Not Over

My moment of joy for Stage 6 of Tour de France 2023 is simply Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates). Why? For the way he rides. The attacks.  The joie de vivre. The sheer damn joy of watching him in his element.

With his team tactics looking a little strange and a time loss to Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) yesterday, many fans were gnashing their teeth that the race  was all over.  When Jonas attacked on the Tourmelet today, no doubt hoping to take more time, Tadej stuck to his wheel like glue.

He grimaced at the camera as the pair joined up with Jumbo Bee super domestique Wout Van Aert.

Then dropped a watt bomb on the Cauteret which his rival could not match.

Crossing the line with a bow to take victory and reduce his gap to Jonas to 25seconds. TAKE THAT, YOU MERCHANTS OF DOOM!

His post race interview was a joy.  You have to love him.

Now don’t get me wrong, just because Jonas is a very different character, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a Midge favourite. He very much is. They both are. You can’t have Tadej without Jonas, they are rivals in the best sense of the word.

With Jonas in the Maillot Jaune, it’s going to be fizzing all the way to Paris

I’m happy Tadej has closed the gap because it makes me excited at what they’ll do next. I can’t wait for the next mountains, and that’s something I don’t often say!

BRING IT ON!!!
