Tour Moments of Joy: Stage 5 – Jai Hindley and #CouchPeloton

Strewth! Stage 5 of Tour de France 2023 and he’s only gone and done it. Jai Hindley (BORA-Hansgrohe) sneaks into the break of the day like a ninja warrior, makes all the right moves as the break ebbs and flows and then attacks like the Giro winner he is to take his first Tour de France victory AND THE MAILLOT JAUNE. I couldn’t be more delighted for him, his team and the brilliant Aussie fans of the #couchpeloton. Enjoy your moment of joy, guys.

The first day in the Pyrenees started with many questions and no concrete answers.

The #couchpeloton were only worried that he remain undercover for as long as possible. I honestly can’t wait for Belinda’s  #RookieRacingRecap tomorrow.

Jai remained cool, calm and collected as the Break of the Day broke itself into pieces. He was always where he needed to be and when the time was ripe, he pounced to claim it all on the final climb.

He zipped it down the descent …

and raced for the finish line. The #couchpeloton held their breath as Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) went into attack mode behind Jai.

Round of applause for this one please.

The absolute joy on his face.

Improvising and enjoying some bike racing – words to live by Jai.

All of the joy for these cycling fans who stay up night after night, I can’t even manage one week of the of the Tour Down Under !

Can he hold it on the Tourmelet tomorrow?
