There’s a sad sort of clanking from the clock in the hall at VeloVoices Towers, which regretfully tells us it’s time to bid farewell, so long and adieu to some peloton favourites. Here is our list of nominees for the lifetime achievement award and it’s chock-full of deserving candidates and persuasive arguments. And one very, very controversial outlier. Vote now – and if you think we’ve missed someone off, write them in!
This prestigious award is not decided on by mere trifles such as UCI points or pay slips. Like our regular Rider of the Race accolade, this title goes to the rider who has leapt out and grabbed us with his panache, made us laugh, made us cry and most of all made us LOVE this sport.
Previous winners: 2012 – Bradley Wiggins; 2013 – Peter Sagan; 2014 – Michal Kwiatkowski; 2015 – Peter Sagan; 2016 – Peter Sagan; 2017 -Tom Dumoulin
Six of the most kick-ass riders of 2018 all nominated by the rather wonderful Lukas Knöfler. And yes, I’m sorry but you can only choose one of them! Vote now, or let us know in the comments if you have another name to throw in the hat.
