Second week of the Vuelta and the action got spicier as the roads tilted upwards.
Stage 10
Sheer perfection from the Quick-Step Floors gains Vuelta victory number two for Elia Viviani. Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) keeps his single second advantage for the red jersey.

Stage 11
Crazy strong break, Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) in virtual red, a gripping duel to the finish and a heart warming victory for BMC stalwart Allesandro De Marchi. What more could you ask fro the Vuelta?

Stage 12
Another day for the breakaway. Genius timing from Alexander Geniez gave AG2R-La Mondiale their second win at La Vuelta. The biggest story of the day belonged to Jesus Herrada who claimed the red jersey with a gutsy ride – while Movistar and Mitchelton-Scott engaged in a game of who would blink first in the chase group. What a day to be a Cofidis fan.

Stage 13
The Vuelta arrives in Asturias. The race ended on the summit of La Camperona. But the name on everyone’s lips was Oscar Rodriguez from Basque team Euskadi-Murias. What a way to take your first professional win. Jesus Herrada and Cofidis lost time but retain the red jersey.

Stage 14
A real doozy of stage full of action. Simon Yates jumped away to solo in for the win and straight back into the red jersey – this time with a whole 20secs advantage. I dare you not to be touched by Cofidis at the end.

Stage 15
The highly anticipated Lagos La Covadonga stage more than lived up to it’s hype. A MAGNIFICENT STOMPING performance from Thibaut Pinot secured Groupama-FDJ a stage win and the GC favourites engaged in an slug it out attack fest. Simon Yates stays in red but with a 1:29 mins separating the top 5 and a week of racing to come – we’re heading into peak spice people!
