Final KM: Volta a Catalunya Stage 1

Sprinters day at the Volta a Catalunya and Quick-Step Floors have another fast Colombian in their midst.

Volta a Catalunya Stage 1: Calella to Calella, 152.3km

Quick-Step Floors nailed the high speed lead out and Alvaro Hodeg lit the blue touchpaper to fly over the finish line with bike lengths to spare. BORA-hansgrohe duo Sam Bennett and Jay McCarthy rounded out the podium. The young Colombian only took his first professional win 3 days ago and now he can add WorldTour victory and several visits to the podium. He holds the race lead by 4secs.

The Wolfpack gave us another masterclass in delivering a sprinter –  they make it look so easy. Silky smooth pace and power from Bob Jungels. Track speed and skills galore from one of the best final lead out men in the peloton Michael Morkov. When you have the quality of sprinters the Quicksteppers  can bring to the peloton, you know the wins are going to keep rolling.
