Worlds Tweets of the Week: It’s Peter’s world – we just live in it

It was an extraordinary ending to a fabulous Worlds – thanks to Bergen and a certain Slovakian rider. There was controversy, mystery and suspense. And that was just on Twitter.

The missing tapes

How Julian Alaphilippe got caught and how Peter Sagan won the day. I have to say, however, that excruciating point at the finish of the race when all the cameras went down and it was just static cameras were some of the most exciting moments in racing! Where is he? What’s happened?! When are they going to round the bend???? We have the footage of what we missed …

But it seemed a lot of people thought the lack of cameras was a stroke of genius!

It’s not every day I agree with The Chicken

Some of the best answers to: I wonder what happened in those 3 missing kilometres …

Simply the best

Coconuts … avocados …

Showing their mettle

Of course, it wasn’t just Peter Sagan who will be wearing the rainbow stripes into next year.

I think we can safely say that riders on Sunweb had a very fine Worlds

The elite women’s race on Saturday was full of derring-do – and Chantal Blaak took the stripes

Rainbow juniors …

This rainbow jersey is extra special. Congratulations to Annemiek van Vleuten on becoming the TT champ.

The Dutch haven’t done too badly in this Worlds – and what a great year for Tom Dumoulin. Giro champion AND rainbow stripes (AND great hair!)

The Gruppetto

We do love Angryphilippe

I didn’t realise this had happened until I was putting this column together. Chapeau, Manuel. You’ll be missed. You’re a class act.

Midge and I are so jealous of SusanAnn and Mavis’s lifestyle. They are at *every* race!

The last word
