Final KM: Stage 6 BinckBank Tour, Stage 3 Arctic Race of Norway

They say the riders make the race and so they did on a thrilling Saturday of racing. Tim Wellens took the BinckBank Tour by the scruff of neck and turned the GC upside down. North of the arctic circle saw a battle royale on the Queen stage with a joyous home win for August Jensen.

BinckBank Tour Stage 6: Riemst to Houffalize, 196.9km

Tim Wellens (Lotto-Soudal) and Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) were the strongest riders on a windswept, rain sodden, mini Liege-Bastogne-Liege day. Wellens took the stage victory in a two-up sprint, Dumoulin moves into the race lead. Trek-Segafredo’s Jasper Stuyven led a very elite group of riders in for third. Dumoulin holds the race lead by  +4secs from Wellens with BMC’s Greg Van Avermaet third at +46secs.

Smiles before the stage …

Arctic Race Stage 2: Lyngseidet to Finnvikdalen (Tromsø), 185.5km

WHAT-A-FINISH!!! Team Coop’s August Jensen went toe-to-toe with race leader Dylan Teuns (BMC) on the Finnvikdalen climb, taking the win by the narrowest of margins and moving to second overall. Neither rider would give an inch, it was pure joy. Teuns retains race lead by 3secs from Jensen with Aqua Blue’s Michel Kreder in third at +17secs.
