Final KM: Tour of Poland Stage 4, Vuelta a Burgos Stage 1

Two races, two fast finishes. One a classic bunch kick after a long, hot day in the saddle, the other an uphill puncheurs delight. Let’s get down to it.

Tour of Poland Stage 4: Zawiercie to Zabrze, 238km

Caleb Ewan (Orica-Scott) was perfectly positioned at the perfect time by his poisson-pilote Luka Mezgec to take victory in his perfect aero style. A late surge by Sky’s Danny van Poppel just nudged out Peter Sagan (BORA-hansgrohe) for second. The World champion extends his GC lead over BMC’s Dylan Teuns to 10secs.

The 6-man break went early and it was so good to see Cannondale-Drapac’s Toms Skujins back at the front after his horrible crash at the Tour of California.

Everyone loves Toms

One heck of a long, hot day

Vuelta a Burgos Stage 1: Burgos to Alto del Castillo, 151km

Sky’s Mikel Landa took an imperious victory on the fast, uphill finish of Alto del Castillo. Part of a 4-man break that slipped away with the 8km to go, the Basque rider chased down Sergei Chernetckii (Astana) in the closing metres to claim the splendid purple leader’s jersey. Quick Step Floor’s Julian Alaphilippe rounded out the podium, another rider we’re thrilled to see back in the peloton.

Aqua Blue were represented in all the breaks and just look who made their debut in the #CaptainAmerica jersey. We love Larry Warbasse.

For those in the UK, Bike Channel is showing the race live HURRAH!
