It’s a BMC podium clean sweep as Rohan Dennis takes the final time trial. Top three overall remains unchanged as Katusha-Alepcin’s Simon Spilak does the Tour de Suisse double. The KOM podium outdoes all expectations with an outbreak of antlers!
Tour de Suisse Stage 9: Schaffhausen to Schaffhausen, ITT, 28.6km
Rohan Dennis finished the Tour de Suisse in the same way he started – on the top step of the podium after a scorching performance at a time trial. BMC certainly underlined their prowess against the clock as Stefan Kung and Damiano Caruso finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Race leader Simon Spilak finished 5th on the day, fast enough to ensure the Katusha captain was victorious at the race for the second time in his career. Caruso claimed the GC second step with LottonNL-Jumbo’s Steven Kruijswijk in third. Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) was the points champion. Aqua Blue’s Lasse Norman Hansen carried home the mountains jersey and the prize for most kilometres spent in a breakaway. Ag2r-La Mondiale were the best team with Mathias Frank taking the award for best Swiss rider.
