Final KM: Tirreno Adriatico Stage 7

And the TRIDENT is wielded by…… Nairo Quintana!!

Stage 7: San Benedetto del Tronto to San Benedetto del Tronto, ITT, 10.5km

Rohan Dennis (BMC) finished the race between between seas in the same fashion as he started it – on the top step of the podium. The Aussie champ scorched the course, beating long time leader Jos Van Emden  (LottoNL-Jumbo) by 3secs and leapfrogging FDJ’s Thibaut Pinot to claim second on GC. Michael Hepburn gave a sickness hit Orica-Scott something to cheer about with a third place.

Nairo Quintana (Movistar) gets to smuggle the TRIDENT on the plane home for the second time in his career. The Colombian beat Dennis by 25secs with Pinot at +36secs. Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) keeps the red points jersey – and the prize for avoiding daydreaming dogwalkers (see below). Quickstepper  Bob Jungels (we LOVE him) TT’d his way back onto the best young rider podium. Davide Ballerini (Androni-Giocattoli-Sidermec) is king of the mountains and Movistar are the best team.

Highlights…

Yesterday it was level crossings, today Sagan faced another cycle race hindrance – the dog-on-the-road-incident…
