Abu Dhabi stage 4: Yas Marina144km

On a day when the heavens opened making the Yas Marina Formula One circuit more slick than episode of The West Wing, Caleb Ewan (Orica-Scott) made up for his rookie error on stage two by taking a blistering win against sprint royalty Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) and Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal)

The racing was enlivened by the fight for a hat full of bonus seconds. Quick Step’s Best Young rider Julian Alaphilippe claimed a cheeky sprint to leap from 9th to 5th on GC. Other than the young Frenchman, the GC remained the same with best team UAE Emirates’ Rui Costa claiming the title for a from Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha-Alpecin) and Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb). Mark Cavendish goes home with the points jersey.

Watch out for this pair at races all over Europe… Caleb Ewan and Roger Kluge are on FIRE…
