Sprint day number two brought a short, sharp lesson in sprinting all the way to the line.
Stage 2: Al Maryah Island to Big Flag, 153km
Marcel Kittel (Quick Step Floors) kept the power on all the way to the finish line to make it win number four for himself and a lucky #13 for his team. My oh my you have to feel for Orica-Scott’s Caleb Ewan. His team were brilliant and he produced that blend of power and speed out of the last corner. Victory was so close he could taste it, indeed he’d already started to celebrate it and that was the problem. Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) placed third and retains the overall lead by +4secs to Kittel. Stage three includes a climb so expect it to be all change at the top.
