Final KM: Santos Women’s Tour Stage 3

Fearsome heat and sizzling sprint finish. It was red hot action all the way at the Santos Women’s Tour today. Read on!

Stage 3: Tanuda to Lyndoch, 92.4km

Today’s stage saw the peloton tackle the marvellously named Whispering Wall not once but twice. At one kilomtere long with a max gradient of 8% it was a leg breaker and cetainly caused a selection. However, the bunch couldn’t drop the sprinters and a rip roaring finish from Chloe Hosking (Ale Cippollini) just pipped out Kirsten Wild (Cylance Pro Cycling) for her first win in new team colours. Alexis Ryan (Canyon SRAM) rounded out the stage podium. Orica-Scott’s Amanda Spratt is still holding the ochre jersey by 19secs from Hosking’s teammate Janneke Ensing, and we’d say she looks odds on to retain it on the last stage tomorrow.

Mission accomplished…

My photo of the day…

As a bonus we have two excellent interviews to dive into while having a coffee. The first is from victorious sprinter Hosking on Ella CyclingTips. The second, a thoughtful Cycling News piece from Spratt on why we need to be a little patient regarding the progress of the Santos Women’s Tour.
