Final KM: Criterium du Dauphine Stage 2

A rolling stage with a nasty little uphill finish provided an exciting will-they-won’t-they scenario as the break put everything they had to make it to the line. Did they manage it? Read on…

Stage Two, Crêches-sur-Saône to Chalmazal-Jeansagnière, 168km

Movistar’s Jesus Herrada put it in the big gear and surged past the breakaway metres from the line. Tony Gallopin (Lotto- Soudal) finished a disappointed second and Serge Pauwels (Dimension Data) rounded out the podium. All the GC contenders made it home in the chasing pack some 2secs after, except for poor Romain Bardet (Ag2r) who tangled with a team mate on the run in and lost 45secs.
