Giro d’Italia 2016: Stages 1-7 Final KM

Life is busy yet racing continues – so you might have missed a few of the finishes this week. Here are the highlights of the first seven stages of this year’s Giro all in one easy post! Yeah baby! 

Stage 1: Apeldoorn – Apeldoorn

Tom Domoulin takes the first maglia rosa by the slimmest of margins (a hundredth of a second!) in the first ITT of the race. Our review is here.

Stage 2: Arnhem – Nijmegen

It was a sprint-tastic stage and Marcel Kittel shows them how it’s done. Tom Dumoulin keeps the pink by a mere second. Our review is here.

Stage 3: Nijmegen – Arnhem

Another sprint stage, another masterclass courtesy of the ArgoSunGod, who does his best impersonation of a rocket – and leaves the others in his wake. Kittel takes the maglia rosa into the first rest day. Our review is here. 

Stage 4: Catanzaro – Praia a Mare

Diego Ulissi takes his fifth Giro stage win with a well-timed attack on the final climb of the day. Tom Dumoulin takes back the maglia rosaOur review is here. 

Stage 5: Praia a Mare – Benevento

It was fast, it was furious, it’s a looooooong sprint of power from Andre Greipel! Tom Dumoulin retained the maglia rosa. Our review is here.

Stage 6: Ponte – Roccaraso

Another Lotto day, this time in the mountains with Tim Wellens taking his first grand tour stage. Tom Dumoulin, yep, he’s still in pink. Our review is here. 

Stage 7: Sulmona – Foligno

Three in a row for Lotto Soudal and Andre Greipel took his second stage in three days. The maglia rosa is getting used to the shoulders of Tom DumoulinOur review is here.
