It is nearly May isn’t it? The poor peloton just can’t get a break with the weather! It’s prologue time from a snowy and wet Switzerland.
Tour de Romandie, La Chaux-de-Fonds to La Chaux-de-Fonds, prologue, 3.9km
The Swiss WorldTour race kicked off with a short, fast paced prologue. Twisty and technical with a climb and descent in the middle, it was made much trickier by the intermittent rain/snow/sleet – particularly for the later starters. Movistar’s Ion Izagirre stormed around in 05:33mins, 6secs faster than Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin). Team Sky’s Michal Kwiatkowski just pipped team mate Geraint Thomas for 3rd place.
And the crowds go wild. FDJ’s Jeremy Roy captures a lovely scene
