Final KM: Giro del Trentino Stage 4, Tour of Croatia Stage 4

It’s the weekend so we have just that little bit extra in the Final Kilometre post. We’ve got podiums, bubbly, and a down to the last second finish at the Giro del Trentino. If that’s not enough action, we can round off with a bodacious Queen stage from Croatia.

Giro del Trentino St 4, Malè to Cles, 160.9k

What a thriller of a last stage! Attacks galore on the climb, all podium contenders in a 13 man sprint, and the overall settled by bonus seconds. Tanel Kangert (Astana) took his second stage win beating Matteo Busato (Southeast-Venezuela) to the line. But after resisting Astana’s attacks all day Sky’s Mikel Landa placed third, and that was enough to ensure he retained the overall by 2secs. Kangert remained in second place with team mate Jakob Fuglsang in third (+0:14secs). The mountain’s jersey also went to Landa, with Egan Arley Bernal (Androni Giacattoli-Spidermec) as best young rider.

Riccardo Zoidl (Trek-Segafredo) took a superb solo win on the Queen stage, finishing 28secs in front of Synergy Baku’s Matija Kvasina and Victor de la Parte (CCC Sprandi Polkowice). The leader’s jersey passes to home favourite Kvasina with a 19sec advantage over Zoidl going into the 40.3km team time trial on Stage 5.

What do you mean it’s not a sprint finish?
