Final KM: Giro del Trentino Stage 1, Tour of Croatia Stage 1

Today’s Final KM showcases some great racing in gorgeous settings. Settle back and prepare to sigh over the Giro del Trentino and the Tour of Croatia.

Giro del Trentino St 1, Riva to Torbole, TTT, 12.1km

It’s advantage Astana after the opening stage at the stunning Lake Garda. The Shark’s men flew around the course in a turquoise-clad haze 14secs faster than Sky with Ag2r La Mondiale taking a fine 3rd place on the same time.  Valerio Agnoli was first over the line and wears the stylish leader’s jersey tomorrow.

Podium time (That jersey is going to clash horribly with the bibs, but we’re sure Valerio will carry it off)

Inflatables !!!

Love these helmets styled by Norda-MG.Kvis Veda, one of the Italian continental level teams

Plus a bonus video because Lago di Garda is stunning

Tour of Croatia St 1, Osijek to Varazdin, 230.4km

Looooooong day out in the saddle today, Liege-Bastogne-Liege is only 23km further!  Giacomo Nizzolo  (Trek-Segafredo) took his first victory of the season, dedicating it to injured team mate Fabo Felline. In a very strange sprint that hardly got out of third gear on the technical run in. Stage favourite, Dimension Data’s Mark Cavendish, just couldn’t come around the Italian despite being perfectly positioned. Timothy Dupont (Verandas Willems Cycling Team) claimed third.

Not one, but two National Champions in the break of the day for the Cycling Academy Team. Israeli champion Guy Sagiv, and Canada’s finest Guillaume Boivin who was only caught 3km from the line,

Thrilled to see fellow Cornish native Chris Opie (One Pro Cycling) take 4th place –  and celebrate with a bear
