Final KM: Tirreno-Adriatico St6

After a weather enforced break it was back to racing for the #Tirreno peloton in the penultimate stage of the race between the seas.

Tirreno-Adriatico, Stage 6, Castelraimondo to Cepagatti, 210km

A small but fantastically determined group of classics riders got away on the finishing circuit to deny the sprinters their bunch gallop to the line. BMC’s Greg Van Avermaet continued his winning ways outsprinting Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) on the uphill drag, with Michal Kwiatkowski (Sky) placing third.  With a time trial to come, this victory puts Van Avermaet into the maglia azzurra by 7secs from  Zdenek Stybar (Etixx-Quick Step) and 8secs from Sagan. All three are within a whisper of touching the fabled trident, with Young Bob Jungels (Etixx-Quick Step) a shouting distance 21secs in arrears. Don’t miss the finale!

“Mamma Mia, I’m in the maglia azzurra!!”  …
