Snow, wind, echelons and the gravel roads to Vendôme made for a nerve-jangling, dramatic day of racing.
Paris-Nice, Stage 1,Condé-sur-Vesgre to Vendôme, 195km
Arnaud Demare (FDJ) unleashed a devastating late sprint to snatch victory from Sky’s Ben Swift and ex-teamate Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis). Michael Matthews (Orica-GreenEDGE) retains the yellow jersey and managed to snatch a couple of bonus seconds to increase his lead over Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin) and Cannondale’s Patrick Bevin. The first polka dot jersey of the race was awarded to Movistarlet Ion Izaguirre.
When the going gets tough, the tough… seem to enjoy it!
Love this pair of snow angels…
