Final KM: Challenge Mallorca day 2

We admire a nail biting will-he-won’t-he finish here at VeloVoices Towers, and Etixx-Quick Stepper Gianluca Brambilla gave us a real thriller in tough day at Mallorca – Vai vai vai!

Day 2, Challenge Mallorca: 162.6km Pollença to Port de Andratx

With three climbs and a lumpy 30km run to the line it looked odds on for a reduced bunch sprint into Port de Andratx. Seems Etixx-Quick Step’s Gianluca Brambilla didn’t get that memo, flying off the front on the last climb and holding the chasers at bay all the way to the finish. He made it with about ten metres to spare from Sky débutante Michal Kwiatkowski and team mate Zdenek Stybar.

Kwiatcrush selfie #threecheekymonkeys. Hands up who thought it was an all Etixx-Quick Step podium when they saw the names?… it can’t be just me surely?

The top ten at this race would grace any of the Spring Classics so how fantastic to see Tao Geoghegan Hart, riding for the Great Britain team, mixing it at the sharp end. He’s only 20 years old and is definitely on our radar.
