Etixx-Quick Step rev the sprint into Merecdes, Tinkoff lay down a sterling performance in Stirling, and Adam Hansen does what only the Lotto-Soudal rider can do. Here’s your round up of the action from Australia and Argentina.
Stage 2, Santos Tour Down Under: 132km Unley to Stirling
Tinkoff’s Jay McCarthy has been frisky in the Aussie races recently and backed this promise up with a WorldTour win and a trip to the podium for the famous ochre jersey. He exploded out of the bunch and hung on by a whisker from Diego Ulissi (Lampre-Merida) with BMC’s Rohan Dennis in third.
Solo 80km break anyone? We love Adam Hansen #thatisall
Stage 2, Tour de San Luis: 181.9km San Luis to Villa Mercedes
One year ago Fernando Gaviria hit the headlines at TDSL by beating Mark Cavendish on this stage finish. This year, the Etixx-Quick Step neo pro showed a clean pair heels to Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) and Elia Viviani (Italy). He also collects the race leader’s jersey from team mate and wingman Ariel Richeze.
