FINAL KM: Santos Women’s Tour stage 4

The Women’s Tour wrapped up with a zippy and tense criterium race around Adelaide’s Victoria Park. Everyone expected a bunch sprint, but with four riders sharing the same time on GC, who would claim the blue jersey??

As a group of 20 riders hurtled into the finish it was Kimberley Wells (High5 Dream Team) who raised her arms aloft, edging out Nettie Edmondson (Wiggle High5) and race leader Katrin Garfoot (Orica-AIS).

With four riders sharing the same time going into this race it was imperative that Garfoot finished in front of her rivals. Superb teamwork and nerves of steel saw her home safe to claim her first ever stage race overall victory.

Isn’t this just the best picture of the team classification winners? #owningit

Wiggle High5’s Dani King takes home that gorgeous polka dot jersey, and writes about it on her blog

The Women’s Tour produced some great racing and it’s a shameful we didn’t get to see a whole lot of it. The breadth of social media output from the fans, teams, riders and many cycling media sites was superb… take a well deserved bow, we would have been lost without you all.
