The only one of our five photographers that I’ve actually met (on a number of occasions), Jon Baines has really picked up a lot of traction with his cycling photography this year and I’m so pleased for him. As with all five of the photographers I’ve picked, Jon has his own distinct style and brings a thoughtfulness to his work that is clear even when he’s shooting the action.

Photography is all about light and sometimes you just get lucky with the weather. This is a shot of 5th Floors Rudy Melo during one of the early rounds of this year’s London CX League at Herne Hill Velodrome – a rare occasion of a sunny, dusty CX race in the UK.
