You may remember VeloVoices #MysticFondue and her uncanny dream-based predictions this season *cough* The Mighty Degs *cough*. With 2016 still a long way away we all have plenty of time to sit on the sofa, dim the lights and get a little mystical with a crystal ball ourselves. Let’s see what was revealed when the mist cleared in the VeloVoices Crystal Ball Award.
Previous winners: New award.
This year’s nominees are:
Cancellara vs Boonen – one last time: We have been robbed of this rivalry in recent seasons. Who doesn’t want to see one last great ding-dong of a battle between these two giants of the spring season – before it’s too late?
A Tour de France that goes down to the wire: A GC that’s nip and tuck all the way? Where the destination of the yellow jersey isn’t decided until the last stage? #HellYeah! There is nothing like a bit of added drama and cheering in July.
A golden Rio for Cav: The Manx Missile’s palmares is already sprinkled with stardust: World champion on the road, Milan-San Remo, points jersey in all three grand tours, and not forgetting the incredible 26 individual stage wins at the Tour de France. But do you know what would make that list sparkle even more? Some Olympic gold bling that’s what.
A flying and superior Contador: If 2016 is to be Alberto’s last year in the professional peloton, let it be one where we see him dancing on the pedals, taking the attack to his rivals and gracing the biggest stages with his presence.
Eurosport ‘Extra’ Team #HomeOfCycling: Juan Antonio Flecha, Laura Meseguer and Ashley House are not JUST for grand tours. No, indeed, let’s see them bring their warmth and passion to our screens from springtime to autumn.
