Tour 2015: Who is Miffy?

At last year’s Tour de France, I didn’t realise that the giant bunnies atop the caravan cars advertising Le Grand Depart 2015 were, in fact, international superstars. I now know that those bunnies were “Miffy“, created 60 years ago by Utrecht-born Dick Bruna to amuse his young son on a seaside holiday.

During Le Grand Depart, Utrecht’s Centraal Museum is dedicating its largest exhibition hall to celebrate the famous bunny’s 60th birthday. In addition, 60 well-known artists from the Netherlands and Japan have each decorated a 1.8 metre statue of Miffy in their own inimitable fashion which are displayed in prime locations in both countries.

Personally, I’m wondering if there’s a 1.8 metre chocolate Miffy – I’ll let you know.
