Giro stage 15: All aboard the Astana train as Landa takes win

Astana tried to lay down the law, but had to settle for a Mikel Landa win after Alberto Contador held his own. A dominant train of Astanites crushed the peloton into tiny pieces as Baby Blackbird sat in their wake and picked off loose seconds to consolidate his lead. Yuri Trofimov’s late attack looked to have taken the stage but Mikel Landa was let off the leash to chase him down and steal victory.

Giro preview: Stage 15

I hope the riders slept well  last night, because the Giro neither gives an inch nor waits for the frail. Having spent much of the week with the threat of this mountain range looming over them, today is most definitely D-Day for the peloton, certainly now that the GC has been shaken up again in yesterday’s time trail. The stage is set for a showdown in the high mountains of the Dolomites.
