There is something incredibly powerful and moving about watching a time trial – the pain and suffering as the rider pits his body against the clock and leaves it all on the road.

This video from Shimano Race TV shows the Giant-Alpecin guys warming up on the rollers before the prologue at Paris Nice on Saturday. The effort is etched on their faces, and they haven’t even got to the start ramp yet.
