Sportives are growing in popularity but how do you properly prepare for one? I’d say do as much planning and preparation as possible beforehand. And part of that planning and prep could be taking in the great advice and informative videos from British endurance rider Mike Cotty.
Mike shares his encyclopaedic knowledge of climbs through his various websites such as The Col Collective, which offers highly focussed information to help you conquer your challenges, whether that’s a strenuous one-day sportif such as L’Etape du Tour, La Marmotte and the new Strade Bianche, or a multi-stage event such as London-Paris or one of the Haute Routes.
Mike’s ridden for many years and loves to set himself annual challenges, testing not only himself but also the kit supplied by his various sponsors. Last summer he rode for 53 hours non-stop, including in very stormy weather, for over 1,000 kilometres through the Dolomites and Alps, taking in 21 mountain passes and climbing more than 21,000 metres. It makes me feel tired just thinking about it!
Do you have something specific you’d like to know? Mike will even personally respond to your questions. What are you waiting for? Ask away!
