Tongues wagged when Thomas Voeckler sat down with Cyclingnews to talk about the 2015 season.
Voeckler is racing with the newly-demoted Europcar team at the Tour de San Luis this week. The man who famously scoffs at the thought of using a power meter talked about his training regime – or lack thereof.
What I love in cycling is competition and even if I’m not 100 per cent – and I’m not even close to it right now – I’d prefer to have a race than a training camp at this point of the year.
In the interview, Voeckler is fairly sanguine about Europcar losing their WorldTour licence and he knows what they’ll have to do this season to attract new sponsors for next year.
We’re not the strongest team and we don’t have the best riders but we have to show our team spirit and our typical racing style, which is to go on the attack.
Love him or hate him, one thing you can’t say about Voeckler is that he’s afraid to attack. Should be an interesting season.
I think that last line should be he’s not afraid to attack”.
No, it’s correct. ‘One thing you can’t say about Voeckler is that he’s afraid to attack’ – he’s not so you can’t … 🙂
Good thing I write so well… Not so great at reading some time. LOL. My bad.
Not to worry! You had me scared there, thinking I’d made such a rookie error!
I hate him soooo much but maybe is because i’m italian.
