VeloVoices Awards 2013: Kit of the Year

Now is your chance to make your voice heard in our second annual VeloVoices Awards. We’re asking you to select your personal favourites of 2013 across a variety of serious and not-so-serious categories. We’ll publish the final results in the run-up to Christmas.

On Tuesday we ran our poll for the Funniest Moment of the Year. Today it’s the turn of our nominations for the Kit of the Year.

Ant avatarAnt: The kit that I was really quite taken by was that fantastic blue creation sported by FDJ. Simple, and very much tied in with the French tricolore, I thought it was a welcome splash of colour in the peloton where so many teams are getting darker and darker.

Jack avatarJack: Vini Fantini added some fantastic fluorescent cheer to the racing again this season. Unfortunately they became conspicuous for more than just their blindingly bright kit, but it was fun while it lasted!

Kitty avatarKathi: Argonauts! While all white for the world champion is a no-go area as far as I’m concerned, the Argonauts in their snowy white are perfect. They all look like ArgoGods – especially Marcel Kittel with his outrageously fantastic hair. Gorgeousness! Not only that, but you can pick them out of the peloton easier than anyone else.

Panache avatarPanache: I’m going to have to go with Sky. The simple black with the blue stripe is iconic. Rapha did a great job creating a scalable line with beautiful accessories.

Sheree avatarSheree: Cannondale. The lime green is easily identifiable in the peloton and those vertical stripes make it slimming. I also love their interpretation of the national champion’s jerseys.

Tim avatarTim: It’s man-crush time! I haven’t nominated him for any other awards, so I’m going for the British national champion’s jersey as sported by Mark Cavendish – simplicity itself with its red, white and blue bands. (Mind you, I’m always a sucker for the distinctive colours of the French, Italian, Belgian and Dutch jerseys too …)
