Kitty’s Christmas 2013 Gift Guide: Cycling tees

Love cycling? Wear your love on your sleeve (and on your back and on your front). Here is my very eclectic pick of groovy teeshirts to buy your nearest and dearest cycling addict!

VeloVoices

Okay, we can’t start this without plugging our own stuff! Our own Panache has designed up some great tees, including Tour de France, Veloshire, VeloVoices and Monuments. Teeshirts start at about£16.

These are printed to order from Redbubble in the States and can be ordered in a variety of colours, sizes, shapes, hoodies, ¾-sleeves, etc. As they are printed to order, you should order asap if you want delivery for Christmas. Also, UK buyers, beware of customs charges. Some people get stung with them (about £11), some people don’t – just be aware you might have to go to the post office and stump up some cash.

Cycling T-shirt Shop

Cycling Weekly’s shop have a wide variety of teeshirts from a lot of different makers and there is almost certainly something for everyone in their selection. Here are just a few of the different ranges they sell.

Their selection of Tour teeshirts are all abstracty, brushworky – and have a bit of a pop to them. Beats the usual bright yellow tee with the TdF logo in big letters. This is for those who want to love the Tour but in their own artistic way. £24.99 each.

Cycling Legends Graeme Obree – Cycling T-shirt Shop

You can wear Chris Boardman, Graeme Obree, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain, Marco Pantani, Robert Millar or Sean Kelly all over your torso in the Cycling Legends range. Big, bold, and graphic (but in a good way), all of these shirts come in a variety of colours and styles. Of course, Eddy Merckx is so beyond a legend, he has a whole category to himself (header image). All £24.99 each.

A’qto Apparel

This Australian company has some interesting designs for their tees, as well as proper kit, bags, et cetera. I love this retro Legeresque design (£31.78). This is a special edition of 100 so if you like it, order it now. You might not get another chance.

Iconic climbs are popular subjects for teeshirt designs and this almost passport-stamp look for Mont Ventoux (£31.80) is just that little bit different. This is another limited edition tee – they only made 65 of these so again, order now to avoid disappointment.

These are coming from Melbourne so make sure you bear this in mind when you’re ordering for Christmas. Shipments to the UK and Europe are done via DHL/Airmail at a flat fee of AUS$14.99 and should be received within ten days but give it some wiggle room around Christmas time. For US orders, it’s a flat fee of AUS$9.99 and your order should be received within seven days. Check website for more information on shipping.

VeloLove

This is one of my favourite teeshirt companies, who I featured in last year’s Christmas gift guide and this summer’s Tour de France gift guide. A small company out of Yorkshire, they have fun, typographic designs in the softest cotton. I have their Paris-Roubaix tee and I have to say, every time I wear it, I always get compliments on it.

VeloLoveRonde

They have a range of styles – from Tour de France-oriented tees to classics to cyclo-cross. Prices start at £25. They also have sweatshirts and a number of original prints (including Elvis in the polka-dot jersey).

For any Christmas babies out there, they even have babygros, hats and bibs (as in ‘can’t eat without making a mess’, not KuKu Penthouse territory). These sets are £30 and include Team Cry, Mini Mod and Milk Face, as well as the Molteni set pictured below. Start them young and they will cycle forever! Looks like there’s free worldwide delivery as well so get thee to the website.

All prices and links were correct at the time of going to press. For material and manufacturer details, check the relevant website. The last day for UK postage for a Christmas delivery is 17th December but to avoid disappointment, make sure you order well ahead of that!
