Giro stage 11 preview

Stage 11: Tarvisio (C. del Predil) to Vajont (Erto e Casso), 182km, medium mountains

After yesterday’s big summit finish, the GC boys will be probably be wanting a quieter stage for themselves. Therefore, we can expect a breakaway to quietly slip away – that is unless someone fancies having a go on the fast descent of Sella Ciampigotto. There’s a 7.55km uphill finish into Erto e Casso, with the section between 1,500m and 500m to go averaging 7.3%. It’s a small town where hundreds of people lost their lives in the Vajont Dam tragedy 50 years ago. This stage will be an emotional one for the region. Continue reading
