Tweets of the Week: Unrepentent, unforgiven, untweeted, unshaven and unmod

Funny, cruel, odd, personal … you get it all on Twitter. Each week, we’ll have a rundown of some of our favourite tweets. Here are the tweets for the week ending 11th November 2012 (more or less).

There were two big ticket items on Twitter this past week, both of which concerned dopers. Let’s start with …

Lance Armstrong tweeted a little picture the other day – just kickin’ back on the longest couch ever made (I’m not going to link this to his Twitter account – he’s blocked you all already). Do you think he didn’t get that memo from USADA and the UCI about those yellow jerseys? Do you think that perhaps, just perhaps, he’s thumbing his nose at them … and us? Answers on a postcard, please.

Unforgiven and unbelievable

Here are just a few of the responses to the above. There really are still people out there who think he’s still a champion – but most of the people don’t.

Not sure what the ‘un’ word is for taking himself off Twitter, but David Millar did just that, to much wailing and gnashing of teeth. His political ambitions were mentioned as the reason, but he was only telling us he had things to do. Okey-dokey, David. How long will it be for someone to become @FutureUCI_Overlord?

So some of that stuff he needs to do seems to be taking on the role of a journalist. Here, for the ultra-sophisticated Mr Porter site, he interviews Hollywood Phinney, who looks like he’s on his way to a co-ed mixer at an Ivy League university.

Let’s check on that cheeky Koen de Kort‘s progress on the tache front, shall we? Everyone seemed to approve of the facial hair so far, no one approved of his t-shirt.

Although My Beloved Cancellara doesn’t seem to be participating in Movember (not sure if they have such a thing in Switzerland), he does seem to be growing his hair in such a way as to have wings. Does this make me love him less? No. Could anything make me love him less? No.

That ridiculous blue coat that Bradley ‘middle-finger salute cos I’m no role model’ Wiggins (no longer of Twitter) wore at the TdF presentation a few weeks ago (and featured in last week’s tweets) was seen again by @Pissticuffs…

It was short and sweet this time, tweeties – hopefully not every cyclist will have left the Twittersphere by next week. But until then, keep those blue coats handy. It’s getting cold out there!
