Stage 19: Peñafiel to La Lastrilla, 178.4km
Tomorrow is the final summit finish of this magnificent Vuelta, so today is the last day for those teams who are still empty-handed who need to get some camera time in the breakaway. Given the lumpy nature of the roads, they’ll stand a more than decent chance of snatching the win too.
Even if it does all come back together, it’s unlikely to be a routine bunch sprint as the final 1.7km is one long uphill drag averaging 5%. It could be a day for a late, decisive attack by one of the puncheurs: Philippe Gilbert, anyone? Ultimately though, this looks like one of the more straightforward stages in this extraordinary race.
