The route planners seem to love giving the stages a sting in their tails. This is a pretty pancake-flat stage, until the very end when the guys have to race up a Cat 3 climb in the form of the Mirador del Ezaro. It may only be 1.9km but it’s got a ramp on average of 13.1%. Oh yes, this is going to bite – not least because there’s a ramp of close to 30% early on. Thirty. That’ll make it look like a bomb has been dropped on the peloton. Our money is on Joaquim Rodriguez to take this one – he loves these kinds of climbs.
