Stage 3: Faustino V to Eibar (Arrate), 155.3km
The first test of the GC legs is today, with three categorised climbs before taking on the Cat 1 Arrate (5.5km, 7.8% average) to a short, flattish 2km finish. We’ll get an idea of who’s on song and who’s not but, given the not-quite-summit nature of the finish there shouldn’t be any real gaps between the main men at the end of this stage – just a taster of the treats to come. This is the only time the race goes through Basque country so the roadside will be orange and Igor Anton and his fellow Carrots will no doubt be looking to make sure an orange jersey goes across the finish line first.
